I'm Officially Denouncing It!

Today, I read an article about the murder of a Wichita abortionist, while he was in church serving as an usher. The article said that Dr. George Tiller had endured violence before, and often traveled with a bodyguard. In 1993, Tiller was shot by a protester in both arms. His clinic was bombed in 1985. Apparently, someone thought that the doctor hadn't suffered enough at the hands of people who are "pro-life."
I proudly declare myself to be pro-life. That means anti-abortion, but it also means that I oppose any taking of human life, unless direct circumstances make it necessary. I am not a pacifist. I would not hestitate to pull the trigger to protect my family, or other innocents who are directly threatened.
But shooting a man who's worshipping in church? How is he directly threatening anybody at that moment?
And even if he had been in his office, performing an abortion at that moment? While I believe that abortion is murder, I don't believe that killing abortionists or bombing their clinics is any way to save the lives of the innocent unborn. That is best done by trying to change the hearts of mothers who are considering having the horrendous procedure.
So today I want to officially denounce acts of violence like this one. I want to apoligize on behalf of Christians everywhere, who grieve with Dr. Tiller's family and look forward to justice being served.
My mom used to tell me, "Two wrongs don't make a right." I bet your mom told you the same thing.
We all need to start listening to our moms.

Yes. I agree with you. This served no honor to the prolife movement.
